Setup DSL on Macintosh 9.0 and earlier The following instructions will help you setup your SNiP DSL for various Windows Platforms and a Macintosh.
1.
Click on the "Start" menu,
then "Connect To", then "Show
All Connections".
2. In
the network connections window right click on
Local Area Connection and
choose properties from the
menu.
3. On
the next screen click on Internet
Protocol-TCP/IP and then click properties". 4. Choose “Use the following IP Address” 5. Fill in each field with the following information: IP Address={IP Address} Subnet Mask={255.255.255.0} Default Gateway={Default Gateway} 6. Click on the “Use the following DNS servers.”
Preferred DNS=209.204.64.2 Alternate DNS=209.204.64.3 **The 64 should be separated from the 2 and 3, they should not be in the same fields 8. Click Ok, then click close. You should now be setup and able to surf the internet. If it still asks you to dial, open up Internet Explorer and click on the tools menu, then internet options, then the connections tab, and then click on never dial a connection and then click OK
1. Click the "Start" button, choose "Settings", then choose "Control Panel". 2. Double-click the "Network" icon. (Windows ME users note: if you see no "Network" icon, click on "View All Control Panels Option" on the left-hand side of the window.) 3. . From the list that appears, choose "TCP/IP-> [your ethernet card]" (not "TCP/IP-> Dial-Up Adapter"). 4. Click the "Properties" button. 5. Select the "IP Address" tab (if it is not already selected), select "Use the following IP address" and enter the following information: IP Address={IP Address} Subnet Mask={255.255.255.0} 6. Select the "DNS Configuration" tab and enter the following information: DNS Servers=209.204.64.2 & 209.204.64.3 (after typing each DNS server click the add button) Host & Domain=snip.net 8. Select the "Gateways" tab. If there are any installed gateways, delete them and enter the following information: Gateway={Gateway} 9. Click "OK" to close the TCP/IP properties window. 10. Click "OK" to close the Network window. 11. Restart your computer. Note: If you're using Mac OS 9.0, you should download this Open Transport 2.6 upgrade (you don't need to do this if you are running any OS version above 9.0 because you already have OT 2.6 or above). This patch allows you to use a server-assigned addressing protocol with DSL. 1. Under the Apple menu, choose "Control Panels", then choose "TCP/IP"
2. Beside "Connect via", choose "Ethernet".
3. Next to "Configure", select "Manually" and enter the information the following information: IP Address={IP Address} Subnet Mask={255.255.255.0} Router Address={Default Gateway} DNS Servers={209.204.64.2 & 209.204.64.3} 4. Close the TCP/IP control panel and save changes.

choose "System Preferences",
then choose "Network".

the "Network" window,
select the "TCP/IP" tab.

Beside "Show", select "Built-in
Ethernet". 4. Next to "Configure" choose ""Manually" and enter the following information: IP Address={IP Address} Subnet Mask-{255.255.255.0} Router={Default Gateway} DNS servers={209.204.64.2 & 209.204.64.3}

Click the "Apply Now"
button in the bottom right corner of the window. 6. Close the "Network" window.
